Can I promote the ESS Diversity Tool?
Yes. Please make your colleagues aware about the ESS Diversity Tool. The more staff know about it and submit their diversity data, the more valid and accurate the overall reporting will become, and, ultimately, the University will gain insight into the true diversity of its staff community.
How can I promote the ESS Diversity Tool?
There are many ways in which the tool can be promoted. Below are some suggestions:
- Include a link to the tool in agenda for your upcoming staff and/or committee meetings.

- Circulate the promotional slide and presentation to all staff in your School/Unit/College/Area.

- Include the link to the tool and promotional materials in your newsletters.
- Use your social media (post or repost information about the tool).
- Invite the Project Team to present the tool (email ediunit@ucc.ie to request a visit/online meeting).
- Introduce the tool to new staff during the orientation and onboarding.
How is the ESS Diversity Tool going to be promoted in the University?
The ESS Diversity Tool Project Team designed a long-term communication campaign for the tool. Please keep an eye on the following communication strategies and messages:
- Roadshow presentations introducing the tool and, in due time, the high-level reports of the data collected.
- Quarterly or annual reminders to either submit or update the diversity data via emails, newsletters, social media posts, and Workvivo articles.
- Updates about the tool and the data collected in EDI presentations, newsletters, and via Annual EDI Reports.
- Introducing the tool to new staff during Staff Orientation sessions.
- Digital screens across the UCC's campus.
Is there anything I should be aware while promoting the ESS Diversity Tool?
Yes. Please display or include a link to the Data Protection Notice anytime you circulate information about the tool (e.g. via emails, newsletters, orientation, etc.). A PDF of the DPN can be alternatively presented to staff:
