This project was a long awaited facility for students and staff of the University. The overall Mardyke complex provides integrated facilities of outdoor grass and all-weather pitches and a state of the art Indoor Sports Centre. The Indoor Sports Centre is an overall 6,250m 2 which includes a 25m swimming pool, main sports hall, fitness suite, climbing wall, human performance laboratory, café, associated offices, changing areas, etc. The project was strongly welcomed by the 52 clubs and 82 societies of the University and provides much needed facilities to encourage participation in sports and recreation.

Update:

At a cost of €18.5m this project which commenced in July 2000 was complete for September 2001 in time for College Term.
