Lewis Glucksman Gallery

This project is located on the lower grounds of the main campus at UCC. The design team have designed a very modern, high quality design to respond to the sensitive nature of the site. The building can be accessed from the main avenue (podium level) and includes a restaurant, kitchen resource dining areas, gallery store below the podium and three main galleries above the podium. The building is a total of c. 2,200m 2. The restaurant and lift core is clad in limestone while the galleries include a close control gallery which was constructed to the highest international standards. The project  played a key role in the Cork City of Culture 2005. The project used an innovative heating and coding system incorporating heat pumps that utilise the plentyful supply of ground water. This element of the project has been supported by Sustainable Energy Ireland.
