2012 Pedometer Challenge
05 Sep 2012
The nationwide 2012 Pedometer Challenge is on again from Wed 12 September to Tue 9 October, organised by the National Transport Authority / SmarterTravel Workplaces. Teams of between 3 to 6 colleagues from workplaces all over Ireland will have their steps counted while walking (with a little pedometer at their waist / belt) and compete for the final leader board.
The pedometers will be purchased through the employer (coordinator in UCC: Stephan Koch, s.koch@ucc.ie ), and all participants will support the Irish Heart Foundation by part of the purchase price.
You can also use your own pedometer, in case you have one (e.g. from last year's Challenge).
The Pedometer Challenge is a fun event, will raise awareness of physical activity levels and enhance your fitness. There's also lots of attractive prizes to be won.
Registrations are NOW open. Form a team of 3-6 colleagues in your department, send an email to the UCC coordinator (with team name, participant's names, team captain) and formally register at www.pedometerchallenge.ie . The pedometers need to be paid for (€10) by PayPal. For details about the registration process, please see the short presentation attached.
Last year's Pedometer Challenge saw teams from over 40 employers across Ireland, and UCC were in it with 20 teams.
Best of luck!!
