Spring Conferrings 2015

The University College Cork Spring Conferrings took place last week, with BEES graduates being conferred on Thursday 26th February amidst Spring sunshine and showers.

Postgraduate students from the four taught MSc programmes in the School: Organic Horticulture, Marine Biology, Ecological Assessment and Exploration Field Geology recieved their parchments from University President Dr Michael Murphy.

In addition, three honorary MScs were presented to Brian Farrell, for his contribution to the management and organisation of the marine facilities in Dingle and marine safety, and for his promotion of tourism in Kerry; to Mark Boyden in recognition of his extensive and long-term commitment to the aspects of freshwater environmental education; and to Kevin Flannery in recognition his work with the Dingle Aquarium and for his role as a Fisheries Biologist. Finally, PhDs were awarded to candidates in the College of SEFS including those from BEES: Dr Ger Hehir, Dr Gema Hernandez-Milan, Dr Eoin Lettice, Dr David McCarthy, Dr Mark Outerbridge, Dr Catherine Palmer and Dr Siva Velivelli.
