The Youth Climate Justice Project is hiring: join our team as Research Assistant!
At the Youth Climate Justice project at University College Cork, we analyse child and youth climate action in and outside the courts. We particularly examine how children are claiming and asserting their own rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and if this is changing the discipline of children’s rights. It is funded by the European Research Council. It is highly ambitious and cutting edge, and the research assistant will join a team of international, interdisciplinary researchers, and be based in University College Cork.
This research assistant will engage in various duties related to the project included but not limited to: administrative tasks, literature reviews, academic writing, website and database updating.
The position will be for 6 months full time, with the possibility for extension.
Salary Scale 32,962-42,943.
Key duties and responsibilities
- To work under the direction of the Principal Investigator/Project Leader.
- To provide assistance in conducting research activities, including planning, organizing, conducting, and communicating research studies within the overall scope of a research project.
- To work updating website, a database, and on social media activities.
- To conduct literature reviews and writing.
- To perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Criteria
- A graduate qualification in a field of discipline relevant to the area of investigation e.g. BA or BCL (or near completion).
- Some research experience is necessary.
- Good report writing and presentation skills necessary.
- Good analytical skills and computer skills necessary.
- Law and/or children’s rights experience particularly desirable.
- An ability to work independently to a tight schedule.
- Capability of working effectively within a team to achieve results.
- Evidence of excellent organisational and communication skills.
- High levels of initiative are encouraged.
- Please note that Garda vetting and international police clearance check may form part of the selection process.
