WeedTraits Project participated in the Fascination of Plants Day 2024 event at the School of BEES!

The School of BEES recently hosted an open day at Distillery Fields to celebrate the Fascination of Plants Day, a global initiative that highlights the vital and wonderful aspects of plants in our world.
The seventh Fascination of Plants Day takes place this year and is organised under the umbrella of the European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO).
The event showcased some of the research that the School of BEES is currently involved in, featuring poster exhibitions and a glasshouse tour. The tour highlighted our Barley-Wild Oat competition experiment (left image) and the different wild oat population functional strategies experiment (right image).
Plants are fascinating. From one small seed planted in the soil, many green lives can arise—from small herbs to large trees, and from ornamental flowers to essential crops that all animals and humans need to survive. Plant biologists estimate there are roughly 250,000 plant species.
