PhD Studentships, nasc Research Centre

Applications are invited for the role of 2 x PhD Studentships to join our research team at the nasc Research Centre, starting as soon as possible.

The positions are 48 month fully-funded PhD (Tax-free stipend of €25,000 p.a. and tuition fees covered at the EU rate,) which will be based at the School of Computer Science and Information Technology in University College Cork in nasc research centre.

PhD1

Developing quantum safe hardware security techniques, zero overhead authentication for AI integrated digital IP design, and provide a secure framework for integrating 3PIPs. Analysis and Integration for practical environments will be required.

Desirable Criteria (for PhD 1)

Fundamental knowledge of Hardware Security, Quantum Computing, AI and hands on experience on FPGA/ ASIC designing with Matlab.

Prior publication record in this domain.

 

PhD2

Developing context-aware, secure non-terrestrial networking for mission-critical message transfer and data sensing, while ensuring reliable, low-latency, and resilient communication to enable the vision of 5G/6G and beyond networks. Additionally, machine learning-based improvements for scheduling and security of IoT communications will also be explored.

Desirable Criteria (for PhD 2)

Fundamental knowledge of Flying Ad Hoc Network (FANET), UAV/Satellite communications, cluster-based mission-critical communication and hands on experience on Matlab.

Prior publication record in this domain.

 

Essential Criteria (for PhD 1 and PhD 2 positions)

  • BSc/ BTech OR MSc/ MTech or equivalent degree in computer science/ electrical/ electronics/communication engineering; Candidates from other disciplines, such as mathematics or physics, may also be considered if their background is demonstrated to be relevant to the topics.   • Capability of working within a project team to achieve results.
  • Good communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
