Ireland's first Europe Day Festival!

7 May 2023

On 7 May 2023, UCC’s Hub in Active European Citizenship organised Ireland’s first Europe Day Festival.

Over 700 people came to Cork City Hall to engage in over 20 EU-themed games and activities, attend 10 live performances on the theme of EU values, and play our EU treasure hunt.

Pencil it in for 5 May 2024!

On 7 May 2023, UCC's Hub in Active European Citizenship ran Ireland's first Europe Day Festival, a family fun day full of EU-themed activities, games, musical performances. Families came to exchange, share a moment or a crepe made by the 40 French children from Brittany who came to visit.

The activities took place in the heart of the city, in Cork City Hall, with EU face painting, multilingual gaming, EU puppet making, the EU smoothie making, our infamous EU quiz, the EU cinema, EU arts and craft, multilingual story-telling and singing, the social media booth, the collaborative art, and much more.

Seven schools came to participate and performed brilliantly on the main stage songs for which they had composed the lyrics on the theme of EU values. We had pop, rock and rap songs, all celebrating European values.

Wealso had an amazing EU Treasure Hunt with 27 teams of 4, including at least two primary school children, who ran across the city to discover 27 clues. All was based on observation. No prior knowledge was required. Team Latvia won a weekend away sponsored by Cork Airport and Cork City Council.
