Nora O'Connor Wins Best Student Oral Presentation at UCC CoMH Research Conference

The UCC College of Medicine and Health (CoMH) Research Conference, this week, recognised outstanding student research, with Nora O'Connor taking home the award for “Best Student Oral Presentation” for her impactful 3-minute elevator pitch.
Nora’s presentation, entitled “Identifying Systematic Leverage Points to Minimise Food Related Inequalities in the South Side of Cork City, Ireland”, drew from her dissertation research for the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme at University College Cork. Her work was carried out in collaboration with the FOODPATH project, specifically contributing to the Group Model Building (GMB) sessions under Work Package 1.
Throughout the past year, Nora has been working as an intern with the UCC School of Public Health’s Food Policy Research Team, where she played a key role in planning, facilitating, and analysing the GMB sessions. Her contribution has been central to understanding and mapping the complex systems influencing food-related inequalities in Cork’s south side communities.
The Food Policy Research Team and the School of Public Health congratulates Nora on this well-deserved achievement and welcomes her to her new role as Research Assistant. We are looking forward to seeing her continued impact in the field of public health and food policy research.
