21 Oct 2026
On October 8, the Dutch Local Food-EPI report was presented and handed over to the alderman of public health of the municipality of Ede, in the Netherlands, by our Dutch FOODPATH partners in Wageningen University.
Researchers Maartje Poelman and Nieke Sonneveld presented the research aims, methods, results and implications, whereafter the implications and recommendations in the
local Food-EPI report were further discussed with the alderman and two policy officials.
The research used a Local Food-EPI tool and process to compile all relevant local policies, whereafter a panel of 9 experts benchmarked the implementation of the policies against international good practice examples. Based on these steps, the experts formulated and prioritized policy actions for the municipality of Ede to create a healthy, sustainable, and equitable local food environment. The final Dutch report contains a comprehensive list of 27 policy and infrastructure support actions which can be used by the municipality to make further progress within this important policy theme.
