27 Mar 2026

FOODPATH partners from Izmir Katip Celebi University, Turkey, recently held several dissemination events in Turkey and Belgrade to share results from the Food-EPI Türkiye 2025.

On 12 March 2026, a dissemination presentation by Esila Bayar,  for the project “Food-EPI :Türkiye 2025 Evaluation and Prioritisation of Food Environment Policies in Türkiye Using the Healthy Food Environment Policy Index (Food-EPI)” was held for the students of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Istanbul Aydın University, Istanbul, Türkiye.

The event aimed to introduce the core methodology of the study and present the latest findings regarding the current landscape of food environment policies in Türkiye. During the session, the fundamental concepts of the Food-EPI framework were explained, and the results of the policy evaluation and prioritisation phases were shared with the students.

The presentation created an interactive learning environment, allowing students to actively engage with the topic. Following the presentation, a question-and-answer session was held, during which students’ questions were addressed, and further discussions took place on public health nutrition and food policy.

On March 16 2026, a dissemination presentation by Bursa Donmez,  introducing the key outcomes of the FoodEPI Türkiye 2025 study was delivered to students of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Istanbul Medeniyet University. The session focused on evaluating food environment policies in Türkiye using the Healthy Food Environment Policy Index (Food-EPI) framework.

During the presentation, students were introduced to the concept of food environments and the role of public policies in shaping dietary behaviours and population health. The session highlighted the increasing burden of diet-related non-communicable diseases and the importance of policy actions that support healthier food systems.

The seminar also provided an overview of the Food-EPI methodology, including the assessment of national policies by independent experts and the identification of priority actions aimed at improving healthy food environments in Türkiye.

The event concluded with a brief discussion session, offering students the opportunity to engage with current nutrition policy issues and reflect on the role of future dietitians in supporting evidence-based public health strategies.
