Tomasz Ferenc’s films open “Very Important Films for Our Time” series in Gdańsk
On 25 September 2026, the first cinema screening of the films produced as part of the EuroBorderWalks project took place. “Osmosis” and “Strike” directed by Tomasz Ferenc and edited by Maciej Andrzejewski, were presented as part of the “Very Important Films for Our Time” series at Kino Port, Gdańsk Centre for Modern Art. The screening was followed by a discussion with Tomasz Ferenc and Maciej Andrzejewski and was attended by Svitlana Anatoliivna Krysa, Consul of Ukraine in Gdańsk, and Oksana Kozynkevych, a Ukrainian cultural figure involved in providing support on the front line.
According to the organisers, the series aims to draw attention to the issues humanity continues to face: environmental destruction, war, and the thoughtless exploitation of the Other. The films, on the one hand, expose the darker aspects of the contemporary world, on the other, they propose alternative ways of responding to these challenges, drawing on positive practices explored within the humanities.
The series is divided into four thematic sections: Ukraine, Palestine, Interweavings, and Identity. Tomasz Ferenc’s films opened the series of events.
