SDSN event 'Climate, Migration, Refugees and the SDGs: Leaving No One Behind'
UCC hosted a Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Ireland event which examined the interconnections between climate change, human mobility, sustainable development, and human rights through the framework of the UN 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
It featured opening remarks by Irish Minister of State Neale Richmond and a keynote by former Irish Ambassador David Donoghue, who chaired key UN negotiations in these fields.
DSIS co-PI Professor Maggie O'Neill shared insights from the holistic and transdisciplinary approach of the DSIS model as part of the event panel of practitioners and scholars across migration, humanitarian response, climate action, and social inclusion.
Maggie was joined by Jim Clarken, CEO of Oxfam Ireland, Dr Naomi Masheti (Cork Migrant Centre) and Sean Farrell, CEO of Trocaire. The panel was moderated by Professor Aine Ryall of UCC's School of Law.
