DSIS Keynote at the 'Sustainable Development and Other Paradigms and Concepts' Conference in Lodz
Professor Ed Byrne delivered a keynote on Friday, 11 September 2026 at the UNIC International Scientific Conference on 'Sustainable Development and Other Paradigms and Concepts in the Context of Contemporary Civilizational Trends - Global and Local Dimensions' held at University of Łódz.
Ed Byrne was welcomed by Conference Lead Dr hab. Dominik Drzazka of Uniwersytet Łódzki, Poland, before giving his keynote address. It drew from work undertaken as part of the DSIS project, based out of UCC's Sustainability Institute. UNIC is 'The European University of Cities in Post-Industrial Transition'.
UCC are one of 10 European UNIC universities, each located in post-industrial urban ecosystems, along with the University of Łódz. UNIC's Thematic Line no. 2 (TL2) is Sustainability & Green Cities and as such very closely aligned with work undertaken in UCC's Sustainability Institute.
