PhD Student Seda Guektasch joins CODA project
On 2nd April 2024, Seda Guektasch enrolled as PhD student as part of the prestigious SFI-IRC Pathway Programme 2022.
Seda is from Belgium. She will conduct her PhD at the School of Applied Social Studies and Institute of Social Science in the 21st Century (ISS21). The title of her PhD project is: “CODA: An ethnographic study of children of deaf adults and the role of gender in the negotiation of stigmatized identities.” The PhD research focuses on the negotiation of gender identities and gendered expectations in deaf-parented families from the perspectives of CODAs. Seda’s research will be supervised by Dr Noel O’Connell and Professor Deirdre Horgan.
