Is é cuspóir an tSuímh seo obair an Ionaid a fhoilsiú do phobal domhanda na Gaeilge chomh maith le cur le saothrú na teanga ar fud na cruinne. Tá súil againn go mbainfidh tú tairbhe agus sult as agus go gcuirfidh tú aon mholtaí atá agat in iúl dúinn.
Chomh maith le cúrsaí sa Ghaeilge féin, múinimid ábhair eile trí mheán na Gaeilge agus tá mórán scéimeanna eile againn ar an gcampas agus sa cheantar máguaird: leithéidí an tSeomra Caidrimh, an Ionaid Chónaithe Gaeilge, na nDeontas Gaeltachta, Scéim na Scol agus go leor eile.
Gheobhaidh tú breis eolais ar obair iomlán an Ionaid sa Suíomh.

Leagtar amach obair Ionad na Gaeilge Labhartha de réir fhorálacha a ráitis aidhme a bhfuil achoimre díobh curtha ar fáil mar seo a leanas:

An Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn go cruthaitheach in COC, in Éirinn agus thar lear, faoi réir Acht na nOllscol (1997) agus ag Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla (2003).

Cláracha teanga sa Ghaeilge labhartha agus fheidhmeach a thairiscint do gach sórt foghlaimeora in COC agus sa Ghaeltacht. Timpeallacht thacúil dhátheangach, a chuimsíonn gréasáin teanga agus gníomhaíochtaí cultúrtha, a chur ar fáil.

Go mbeadh aird ag na seirbhísí teanga so ar an dtaighde agus ar na cleachtais is fearr i réimse an tsealbhaithe teanga.

Bunaíodh an ráiteas aidhme ar an ndoiciméad beartais dar teideal "Cur chun cinn na Gaeilge i saol an choláiste" (nasc go dtí na polasaithe ar shuíomh na hOllscoile) agus ar ghlac Coiste Rialaithe COC leis ar an 23 Aibreán 1996.

Tagann forbairt pholasaí agus cur chun cinn teanga faoi théarmaí tagartha Bhord na Gaeilge atá ar fáil i staitiúidí XCV agus CXL de chuid Staitiúidí Choláiste na hOllscoile Corcaigh.

About Us:
The terms of reference of Bord na Gaeilge are those as laid down in Chapt. E, Section 8 of the Principal Statute of University College Cork. Statute K came into effect in June 2008. Bord na Gaeilge functions as a statutory committee of UCC Governing Body. The policy document “The advancement of Irish in College” was reviewed and rewritten by An Bord. UCC Governing Body approved the new document 10th February 2009. The mission statement of Ionad na Gaeilge Labhartha falls within the parameters of the policy document and contains four main objectives :

  1. to promote Irish creatively in UCC and in Ireland in accordance with article 8, The Irish Constitution (1937), provisions of the Universities Act (1997), the Official Languages Act (2003), The Belfast Agreement (1998).
  2. to offer spoken and applied Irish language programmes to learners at all fluency levels in UCC and at appropriate levels in An Ghaeltacht in the context of the “institiúid na hollscolaíochta” project.
  3. to enable active participation in a supportive bilingual environment which includes Irish language networks, schemes and cultural activities as key components.
  4. to ensure that all services be informed by authoritative research and guided by good practice in the broad process of language acquisition and learning.
