Colleagues from across University College Cork gathered alongside representatives of city and community partners to mark renewed funding for the UNIC European University alliance.

UNIC was recently awarded €14.4m renewed EU funding to deepen and expand the European University alliance, delivering strategic partnerships, shared mobility and an enhanced focus on city engagement, arts and culture and sustainability, among other areas. €1.87m goes to UCC. Further good news followed this announcement, as UNIC was additionally awarded Erasmus Mundus funding to support the RePIC (Redesigning the Post-Industrial City) joint Master's programme.

The celebratory event was attended by Deputy President and Registrar Prof. Stephen Byrne, as well as the Vice President for Global Engagement Prof. Ursula Kilkelly and the Vice President for Teaching and Learning Prof. Paul McSweeney. It was hosted by UNIC Director and Associate Vice President Dr Jean van Sinderen-Law.

Jean took a moment to thank UCC colleagues for their huge work and impact both in delivering success for UNIC in its first phase as well as in ensuring funding success for its next phase.
