SPH NSRF CRF-UCC Seminar Series

This seminar will discuss the impact associated with AF related stroke through the use of national data from the Irish National Audit of Stroke.

As part of the SPH NSRF CRF-UCC seminar series, Aileen Callanan will present ‘Potential Impact of Atrial Fibrillation Screening in Ireland” on Tuesday 22nd August.

This seminar will discuss the impact associated with AF related stroke through the use of national data from the Irish National Audit of Stroke. The facilitators and barriers to AF screening in primary care identified through a qualitative study will also be described alongside a pilot AF screening study that recruited general practitioners (GPs) across Cork and Kerry.

Aileen is a PhD researcher in the School of Public Health in UCC. She graduated from BSc Public Health in 2018. Currently she is completing a PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health. Aileen’s research topic is the feasibility of atrial fibrillation (AF) screening in primary care in Ireland. This project was funded by Cork Kerry Community Healthcare, Health Service Executive.
