What clubs and societies can I join?

In UCC, we know the importance of leading a balanced life. UCC has many clubs and societies and any registered student can join as many clubs/societies as they wish to.

In addition, UCC has first-rate sporting facilities at the Mardyke Arena and all UCC students have automatic membership as part of their registration with UCC.

Are they opportunities to study outside of Ireland for a Semester?

There is one opportunity during the MPharm (or BPharm) programme where it is possible to apply to study abroad. During September to December (16 weeks) in 4th year, you will undertake your 4th-year placement. Placement opportunities are available in Ireland in a diverse array of settings (community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry and other settings offering placements such as research facilities, regulatory bodies and professional bodies) as well as internationally in research laboratories in certain Universities.

I am interested in research. Are there any opportunities to perform research while I am a Pharmacy student at UCC?

Yes. UCC is a research-led institution and will facilitate, where possible, your interest in research. As part of the Pharmacy curriculum, you will undertake a research methods module in 2nd year, you will write a literature review on a research topic in 4th year and you will undertake an original research project as part of your 5th year. In addition, there are opportunities to undertake research projects during the summer under the supervision of a member of staff at UCC School of Pharmacy – summer research studentships are available and advertised on an annual basis.
