Athena Swan
The School of Pharmacy, UCC is delighted to announce it has renewed its Athena SWAN Bronze Award in acknowledgment of its continued commitment to promoting the advancement of STEMM careers for women in higher education.
The School of Pharmacy were amongst the first recipients of the Departmental/School award in UCC, following the University’s institutional award in 2016.
The Athena Swan self-assessment process has provided the School with a structured framework to identify areas of actions and implementation. The key actions the School to be implemented over the next 3 years are aimed at supporting the career trajectory of all its staff and students.
Dr Kevin Murphy, chair of the School of Pharmacy’s Athena SWAN team thanked colleagues for their work: “The success of the application is due to the staff and students of the School. Their daily embodiment of the Athena SWAN principles is what drives improvement and delivers impact. Seeing this, I am confident that the best days are ahead of us.”
Brendan Griffin, Head of the School of Pharmacy, said the award “will encourage us to seek further opportunities to achieve even more success and, in this sense, enable us to excel further as a place where staff and students can fulfill personal career goals.”
The award was announced by AdvanceHE on 31st March 2022. The award was presented to School of Pharmacy Athena SWAN member, Noreen Moynihan at the National Athena SWAN award ceremony in Atlantic Technological University, Castlebar, Co. Mayo on 8th November 2022.
