BPharm4 student Kenneth Nwaezeigwe competed at the recent Irish Open National Powerlifting Championships (the Nationals, see www.irishpowerliftingfederation.com) on 12 – 13 March last and returned from Dublin as National Champion.

Kenneth finished in the number 1 spot after 2 days of spectacular lifting after an intense battle against his UCC teammate Dami Fashoranti (Med4).

While Dami won the 105 kg weight class by 2 kg, Kenneth narrowly won the overall award to become the number 1 ranked lifter in the country for the 2022 Nationals Championship.  The 105 kg weight class was one of the most competitive and exciting of the entire weekend and both UCC students pushed each other to their limits.

Kenneth’s best lifts were:

  • Squat – 300.5 kg (National Record)
  • Bench press – 190 kg
  • Deadlift – 315 kg

All the students and staff of the Pharmacy School congratulate Kenneth on his brilliant achievement!
