The Department of Paediatrics & Child Health warmly welcomes medical elective students and is committed to providing meaningful clinical and academic learning opportunities. We are proud of our established partnership with Université Paris-Saclay, through which we host four medical students each summer.
In addition to this programme, we are delighted to consider applications from UCC medical students as well as international students seeking elective placements, particularly during the summer months.
If you would like to arrange an intern shadowing opportunity, please get in touch, and we will do our best to facilitate a placement tailored to your interests.

 

International Students

We are happy to accept international clinical elective students in July and August.  Please go to https://www.ucc.ie/en/medical/incomingmedicalelectives/ for further information on how to apply.  Please note that UCC School of Medicine is currently not in a position to enter into any further Erasmus agreements

 

Intern Shadowing Clinical Elective

We are happy to discuss the possibility of an intern shadowing elective with you.  This placement is for undergraduate students who would be in their last year of academia.  We will not accept students who have already graduated.  Please note there is limited capacity during the year.  Ee will only accept applications from November - May.  All places are now full until 2028.  Please contact anda.dumitrescu@ucc.ie to register your interest.
