Protected Disclosures Annual Report
1st January 2025 to 31st December 2025
1. Background
In accordance with section 22(5) of the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 (as amended), University College Cork confirms that it has in place internal reporting channels and procedures detailed in its Disclosure Policy.
Under Section 22(5) of the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 (as amended), each public body is required to publish an annual report setting out the number of protected disclosures received in the preceding year and the action taken (if any). This report must not result in persons making disclosures being identifiable.
This report refers to matters in calendar year 2025.
2. Matters Raised

6 matters were reported to the University via internal reporting channels in this period;

Of the 6 reports received in the calendar year, 3 were awaiting completion at year end and 3 were closed with no further action taken;

7 follow up procedures were opened by the University in the calendar year;

0 follow up procedures were carried over from the previous year;

5 follow up procedures were closed by the University in the calendar year;
-
2 follow up procedures remained open at the end of the calendar year;
-
Of the 5 follow up procedures closed, 5 were closed because no evidence of wrongdoing was found or insufficient evidence of wrongdoing could be found;
-
There was no financial damage and no amounts needed to be recovered following the follow up procedures referred to in paragraph (c).
