The College of Medicine and Health was delighted to host a Wellcome Grant Workshop on 28th November 2023 in Brookfield Health Sciences Complex (BHSC_G04) at UCC.

The workshop featured a talk from Dr. Irene Kavanagh (Wellcome Research Officer, OVPRI) who outlined Wellcome funding opportunities including:
• Wellcome Discovery Awards
• Wellcome Career Development Awards
• Wellcome Early-Career Awards
Wellcome Grant Awardee and Wellcome grant review panel member Professor Geraldine Boylan (INFANT Director and co-Director of UCC Futures: Children) shared her experience and advice for applicants when applying.
This was followed by an open Q & A session with the panellists.

As part of this workshop, we are delighted to welcome ERC Starting Grant Awardee Dr María Rodriguez Aburto who will share her experiences of the ERC Starting Grant process and and Dr. Noirin Uí Bhreithiúnaigh / Ms. Niamh Mundrow, EU Research Officers from OVPRI.
