French Language Upskilling Course for Primary School Teachers
Develop your French language skills and boost your confidence in the classroom!
The UCC Department of French will invite primary school teachers to enhance their French proficiency through this fully funded professional development course, designed in conjunction with PPLI (add LINK) and Languages Connect (LINK).
Course objectives
This hands-on course will provide a practical learning experience, helping primary school teachers to:
- Build confidence in using French in the classroom
- Strengthen language skills (speaking, listening and classroom communication)
- Develop cultural awareness to enrich your teaching
- Gain practical strategies that can be implemented in class
What’s the course format?
This engaging and interactive programme (24 contact hours) will be delivered in blended format combining:
- 8 classes online (2 hours each)
- 2 half-day workshops in person, on the UCC campus, Cork city
Dates: January - April 2027.
Who will teach the course?
Classes are delivered by qualified, native-speaking members from the Department of French who have experience in teacher education and language training.
Level and registration
The course will be offered at level A2 - Common European Framework.
Participants will have the opportunity to self-assess their level prior to registration.
Registrations will be open in October 2026.
