Levels
COURSE LEVELS
In order to choose a course at the right level of proficiency, we recommend that you use the CEFR self-assessment grid.
1 - BEGINNERS & FALSE BEGINNERS (CEFR Level A1- / A1)
For people who are at beginner’s stage and for people who learnt a little French a long time ago and wish to refresh their skills and / or who have some words but cannot really speak. The course aims at consolidating a good beginner’s level and at bringing students towards an Elementary level (A2)
2 - ELEMENTARY (CEFR Level A1+ / A2)
For people who have done some French before and who can express themselves but who need to acquire more essential grammar and conversation practice. The course aims at consolidating a good elementary level and at bringing students towards an intermediate level (B1).
3 - INDEPENDENT (CEFR Level B1)
For people who have already acquired good elementary skills. Students joining this level should be able to speak about themselves, to speak about what they did (last weekend, over the summer), what they plan to do (next weekend, next year) and communicate in every day situations, although these will be revised. Further development and practice will improve fluency and broaden speaking, listening, reading and writing. The course aims at bringing students towards level B2.
4 - ADVANCED (CEFR Level B2+)
For people with already good confidence, good ability and who wish to build up their four skills – reading, writing, understanding and speaking. This course aims at consolidating complex French structures and expanding advanced practice (CEFR towards level C1+)
