APC Microbiome
About the Initiative
APC Microbiome Ireland is and Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre that works across the boundaries of traditional research sectors including with clinicians, clinician-scientists and basic scientists from diverse backgrounds working in teams, sharing ideas and resources. The scale and scope of the work has become one of the fastest moving areas of biology, of relevance to all branches of human medicine and veterinary science, and is of growing importance to the economic welfare of society. The mission of the educaion and public engagement work at APC Microbiome is to promote an awareness and understanding of APC research and the role of science in society through engagement with stakeholders.

APC takes part in SFI Discover progammes including Science Week and Smart Futures STEM Careers initiative. APC’s novel initiatives include Alimentary Adventures, an exciting inflatable 10m long walk-through tunnel, which mimics the human digestive system, and educational and gaming apps for use in the classroom and at home, which are available on microbemagic.ucc.ie APC’s
