14 Mar 2024Happening On 14/03/2024University College Cork (UCC) recently hosted the first ‘kick-off’ meeting for the €7.5m Horizon Europe funded ‘In-Touch’ Project bringing together consortium members from across the EU and Canada.
The In-Touch project is set to enhance the lives of people with dementia living in care homes through a multisensory care programme approach.

Launch of the results of the external evaluation of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland's 'Day Care at Home' service
24 Jan 2024The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) commissioned an evaluation, funded by the National Dementia Office, of the ASI's 'Day Care at Home' service. This was was undertaken by Dr. Emma O’Shea and Professor Suzanne Timmons in the Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation at University College Cork in 2023.

Dr. Siobhán Fox contributes to Palliative Care Research Network Symposium (December 2023)
15 Dec 2023The 12th Palliative Care Research Network (PCRN) Symposium took place on Thursday 7th December at the Ashling Hotel in Dublin, hosted by the All Ireland Association for Hospice and Palliative Care. This year’s event focussed on ‘Implementation of Research for Evidence-Based Practice’.
A Special Interest Group (SIG) in Dementia Palliative Care was launched during the event. This Special Interest Group is chaired by Dr Siobhán Fox, Lecturer in the CGR. Expressions of interest for group membership can be made at the following link.

chAnGE Transnational Project Meeting held at UCC
05 Oct 2023chAnGE - innovative learning for a more climate-resilient healthcare service for older people
University College Cork recently hosted the initial transnational project meeting of the ‘Climate change and Healthy AgeinG: co-creating E-learning for resilience and adaptation’ (chAnGE) project, where Professor Suzanne Timmons of the Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation, UCC, is the lead coordinator. This €1.5 million EU-funded Erasmus+ project is an alliance of universities, vocational education and training providers, and health & social care organisations, across Ireland, Portugal, Finland, Austria & Greece. Together we are co-creating a suite of online micro credentials for health and social care workers who deliver care to older people.
