The University may attach a Certificate of capacity to teach through Irish to the Postgraduate Diploma in Education, when the candidate concerned shall have, as part of the examination for that Diploma, passed a specific test therein.

EXTRA-COLLEGIATE PROGRAMMES

The University has power to accept as part of the approved programmes of study for both primary and higher degrees:
1. Programmes of practical work in laboratories, in railway, manufacturing or other workshops, in works or offices, or in mines or on the open ground.
2. Programmes of research in any university or college, public office or other record office or muniment room, library, museum, or other place.
3. Programmes of study in special subjects taken in other places by students who are pursuing programmes of study in a constituent university.

The Deputy President and Registrar of University College Cork will secure information and advice for any student who wishes to avail of these provisions. Convocation has expressed the view "that a wide and liberal use of these powers would be of national service in making students of the University, who take such special programmes of practical work at home or abroad, more efficient workers in the development of Irish resources and of Irish scholarship".
