GP/GDP Referral Form/Health link
There are now two ways to refer a fee paying patient:
1. Referral Form
2. Health Link
Once completed it can be returned by email to: uccdental@healthmail.ie
This form can also be sent by post to University Dental School and Hospital, Wilton, Cork.

Urgent Referrals to the Oral Surgery Department for suspected malignant tumours.
Urgent referrals of patients with suspected malignant tumours will be seen on the very next available clinic that has the facilities to investigate appropriately. An appointment call also be made by telephone on 021 1490 1100. Please do not send patients to the department without contacting us first as the appropriate staff may not be available when they arrive.
Cork University Dental School and Hospital are committed to ensuring that a secure, streamlined system for referrals from GP's and GDP's is in place. As part of this process we have registered with Healthmail.
Healthmail, a secure clinical email, is a service that allows health care providers to send and recieve clinical patient information in a secure manner. Users are issued with @healthmail.ie email accounts and thsi will allow them to communicate patient identifiable clinical information. Referrals can be sent through this system, an acknowledgement will issue to the referring practitioner confirming the referral has been recieved. Previously this system was in use for GP's only, however, Healthlink have confirmed that GDP's can now use this system.
As an interim measure you need to apply using yoiur dental council registration number in the medical council registration field. We have requested Healthlink change their weibste to reflect the extension of this service to GDP's so please bear with us whilst these changes are underway. You will need to apply and once you have been set up, you will have the facilty to send referrals electronically to Cork University Dental School and Hospital aswell as the HSE hospitals.
Please note that we are not permitted to directly accept patients who wish to use their medical card to cover their treatment costs.
Should a patient wish to be treated under this scheme you will need to refer the patient to the Principal Dental Surgeon in the first instance for approval. If approved, the referral will be forwarded to us for treatment under our service level agreeement with the HSE.
