Thanksgiving Celebrations at UCC
26.11.2009

Students from the United States of America studying at UCC celebrated Thanksgiving at a breakfast organised by UCC’s International Education Office.
The students were joined by academic and administrative staff to mark the holiday. While the Thanksgiving Breakfast is organised each year by the International Education Office, it was especially welcomed by the students this year following the disruption caused by the recent floodings.

Emily Goldstein, a Mount Holyoke College graduate, who studied at UCC for her junior year abroad during 2005/2006 and returned to the university to pursue an MSc in Ecosystem Conservation and Landscape Management, was delighted to attend the breakfast for a second time.  As Emily pointed out: “Thanksgiving is very much a family holiday in the US so it can be a lonely time for American students who are away from home.  It is wonderful that the International Education Office provides the students with the opportunity to get together to enjoy a festive breakfast and especially so this year.”

UCC welcomes many students from the United States each year who participate in a wide range of study abroad programmes at the university.  An increasing number of students from the US are pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes at the university.

UCC would like to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends in the United States of America.
