The Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Coveney, visited IGNITE on the 18th November 2019.

We were to thrilled to welcome Minister Coveney to IGNITE, he was greeted by the Director of UCC Innovation Dr. Rich Ferrie, VP for Research and Innovation, Prof Anita Maguire, Director of IGNITE, Eamon Curtin and Chair of IGNITE Advisory Board, Dick Lehane.

During the visit, Minister Coveney met and spent some time with each of the startups while they spoke about their businesses. He shared his own entrepreneurial experience working on a startup at the beginning of his political career, so he could empathise with the hard work involved in starting a business.

He noted "entrepreneurship is an attitude not an idea" which reflects IGNITE's ethos which is not so much about trying to produce businesses, it is about producing founders that know how to build a business.

It was a fantastic opportunity for the IGNITE startups to showcase their work to the Tánaiste, Simon Coveney.
