UCC wishes to appoint Dental Hygiene Tutor(s) at Cork University Dental School and Hospital (CUDSH).  The post-holder will be a qualified Dental Hygienist with experience of providing high quality independent clinical care for patients and an effective team player.  They will have excellent communication and the ability to liaise with all levels of staff within CUDSH, UCC and beyond.  There is an expectation that the appointees will remain as clinicians delivering Dental Hygiene treatments in dental practice (or similar).

The post-holder will place particular emphasis on the training of the dental hygienists within the dental team to address an increasingly ageing population.  The teaching will involve clinical supervision of students delivering all aspects of treatment within the Scope of Practice, clinical simulation exercises as well as didactic lectures and interactive tutorials.  In addition, the post-holder will be expected to assess/examine students and participate in future curricular development, module development and delivery.  The role will require a high level of organisational skill and may also require the allocation and treatment of patients at the discretion of Dean/relevant designate.  The duties will include academic and clinical teaching, clinical activities and research contributions to the university, the discipline and the community.

Appointment may be made on the HSE Dental Hygienist Scale plus 15%.  Salary Scale: €42,318 - €61,891 (Pro rata  0.4FTE)

 

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy***.***
