WiSTEM scholarship for final year Biochemistry student
This year, five scholarships were available to UCC students, one of which was awarded to our final year Biochemistry student Natasha Steidel.
In 2015, Johnson & Johnson launched their WiSTEM2D initiative. WiSTEM2D stands for Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing and Design. The aim of the initiative is to empower women and to inspire young girls in their pursuit of STEM2D studies and careers.
For the past two years, Johnson & Johnson have collaborated with the WiSTEM society in UCC to set up an awards programme to fuel the development of female STEM2D leaders. This program awards and sponsors women at critical points in their career. This year, five scholarships were available to UCC students, one of which was awarded to our final year Biochemistry student Natasha Steidel.
“I am extremely grateful to have been awarded this scholarship for my contribution in UCC to women in STEM. The bursary received has been of enormous help as I am currently saving for a Masters degree. I have also been assigned a mentor from Johnson & Johnson to guide and help me find the right career path. I look forward to my final semester here in UCC and for future collaborations with the WiSTEM society and Johnson & Johnson.”
