Considering doing an MSc at UCC in the Life Science area?
The Biochemistry and Biotechnology Society UCC hosted an information seminar on MSc Programmes at UCC in the Life Science area on Tuesday, 22 January 2019.

Dr Kellie Dean discussed the structure and entry requirements of the MSc Molecular Cell Biology and MRes programmes and Dr Marcus Claesson discussed the structure and entry requirements of the MSc programme in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
Rachel Fitzgerald a 2015 graduate of the MSc in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology discussed her experience of completing the programme. Rachel had started the masters without any previous coding experience but really enjoyed this element of the programme. Rachel provided the students with a summary of the placement project she conducted at Janssen, which involved developed an application to assist in predicting the shelf life of drug products. Subsequently, Rachel worked at Janssen as a Data Scientist from 2015-2017. Rachel is currently conducting a PhD under the supervision of Dr Marcus Claesson.
Claire McSweeney discussed the MSc Molecular Cell Biology, which she completed in 2018. On completing a degree in Physiology at UCC in 2014, Claire worked in management with Schuh but was eager to return to Science. Dr Kellie Dean and Claire’s peers helped to made her return to college seamless and she thoroughly enjoyed the MSc Molecular Cell Biology programme. Claire is now employed as an Analytical Laboratory Analyst at Merck Millipore.
