A Study on the usage & waste management practices of dental amalgam & mercury -free alternatives in Ireland

Irish Dental practice may be facing changes in relation to the introduction of the Minamata Convention on mecury.  Ahead of these changes University College Cork are collecting baseline data relating to the placement of restorations by dentists in Ireland and the current usage and waste management practices for disposal of dental amalgam.  This data is being collected to aid the transition and to quanitify any changes that may occur.  We hope that this data can be used to inform future training in dental students and continuing professional development which may or may not be required by dentists and other members of the dental team.
