The war in Sudan began in April 2023 and the crisis is ongoing. To date, more than 150.000 people have been killed and over 12 million people have been displaced from their homes. The war has resulted in famine and genocide in the Darfur region. Ala Kheir is one of the people who has been displaced by the war and in this talk he will speak about his work as a photographer and his experiences in Sudan and in the refugee camps where he has met with, interviewed and photographed many Sudanese people whose lives have been irrevocably changed by the conflict. Ala Kheir's talk was made possible through the generous support of the School of History and Art History.
