UCC’s President John O’Halloran will kick off the day and then we’ll move from Artists / UCC Climate Scientists who’ve been in partnered conversation since September (these include award winning glass artist Sophie Longwill, aerial artist Elaine McCague and theatre artist Shanna May Breen), and Artist Producers who’ve been involved in large scale arts and sustainability projects in the city and beyond (Marilyn Lennon / The Kinship Project; Aoife Desmond / Test Site and Jess Franklin / The Fold, Art and Geology). Deborah Barkun, Creative Director of the Berman Museum of Art, PA and curator of Mapping Climate Change will discuss the exhibition with Marion O’Sullivan, mighty knitter of the entire edge of The Knitting Map who is knitting the daily high temperature of Roches Point from 1924. We’ll be asking the question - Does Cork City need an annual Arts & Sustainability event?
Partnered Artists and Scientists also include Maria McSweeney (Visual Artist & Scuba Divemaster) / Jesse Petersen (UCC Geography / Radical Humanities) and Rosa Rogers (Writer) / Jenny O'Driscoll (Civil Engineer). All Very Welcome.
