UCC Researchers Receive Grant to Accelerate Medicine Delivery to Developing Countries

University College Cork (UCC) research has received a grant to use modern computational methods to develop critical medicines for improving global health and equality. A team of researchers at UCC has received €950,000 in funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to use artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to accelerate the development of medicines for conditions that impact those in developing countries.

Munster Technological University (MTU) officially launched its new €14.6 million Research to Impact TU-RISE Project.

This project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-2027 and was officially launched today by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Patrick O’Donovan TD.  MTU currently has the largest research and innovation expenditure (€30m) and highest direct-funded research income from industry partnerships across the entire TU sector in Ireland. Research to Impact will see MTU expanding its team of research postgraduates and  postdoctoral researchers to continue to deliver the growth needed to support the university’s ambitious targets for the region.

Upcoming Cork Smart Gateway Webinar "Driving Digitalisation and Innovation, Part and Fully Funded Services for SMEs Delivered by the European Digital Innovation Hub."

A joint webinar between the Local Enterprise Office, Cork City, Nimbus Research Centre, ENTIRE EDIH Ireland European Digital Innovation Hub and the Cork Smart Gateway. Delivered by one of ENTIRE’s member organisations the Nimbus Research Centre, attendees will be informed about the variety of part and fully funded services offered by ENTIRE. The webinar will also feature presentations from businesses that have engaged with ENTIRE who will share their experience and journey to date.

UCC to lead on research to discover how AI can be used to make drug production more efficient.

Scientists and reseearchers from University College Cork are set to colaborate with academic and industry leaders from Ireland and the United States as part of the new "InTeleCat" initiative. The initiative aims to accelerate the development of pharmaceuticals.The groundbreaking intiative seeks to showcase how Artificial Intelligence can be used to make drug production more efficient, economical, and sustainable. The primary goal of InTeleCat is to leverage Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimise and predict catalytic processes that are critical in the pharmaceutical industry.
