UCC welcomes Minister Christopher O'Sullivan

Today, UCC President, Professor John O'Halloran, welcomed Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage with special responsibility for Nature, Heritage & Biodiversity to campus. The Minister was accompanied by Michael MacDonagh, Chief Archaeologist, Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage and Assistant Secretary Niall O’Donnchu, Department of Arts, Heritage & the Gaeltacht. Minister Christopher O'Sullivan and his team viewed the Ogham Stones in the Main Quadrangle, and also visited the Crawford Observatory, the Honan Chapel and the Aula Maxima, where tours were supported by UCC staff. He met with Mark Poland, Director of Buildings & Estates; Margaret Lantry, University Curator; Sean Kelly, Arts & Culture Officer; Paul Callanan, Head of School of Physics; and Virginia Teehan, Chief Executive at The Heritage Council. The Minister was presented with a piece of handcrafted Ogham artwork on behalf of the University.

University College Cork welcomed Uachtarán na hÉireann, Catherine Connolly, to campus on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, during an official visit celebrating Irish language, culture, and education initiatives at the university.
