Junior Conferring Tours
The Junior Conferring Tour began in 2007 and has had 90,000 primary school children undertake the programme. The tour is available free of charge to Primary Schools from 3rd Class to 6th Class.
A tour includes an introduction at Visitor Services. The children are then put in replica conferring robes and take a tour of the university with a guide that lasts approximately 1.5 hours. The tour then concludes with a mock conferring ceremony where each child is presented with a scroll with their name and have their photograph taken.
Activities include an exercise where the children make their own Ogam Stone, learn to use a map and a science/physics based activity based in the Crawford Observatory.
