Research Students Orientation
The Dean of Doctoral Studies hosts in-person orientation for our new Postgraduate Research Students who are registered for one of our research programmes (e.g. PhD). Normally these events take place in October and April.
The next Orientation will take place on 2 Oct 2024 in the Aula Maxima. If you have recently commenced your research programme you will get an email about this orientation event in September via your UCC email. Don’t miss out – check your UCC email regularly!

Capitation Levy for 2024-2025
Following two student referenda held by the UCC Students’ Union in March 2024, it was agreed that the Capitation Levy would increase. This levy or fee is an annual charge paid by students towards services while at UCC.
The total Capitation Levy payable by:
all Taught Students in academic year 2024/25 will be €207, comprised of the following
- a membership fee for the Mardyke Arena (€132)
- Union of Students in Ireland (USI) Affiliation Fee (€5)
- Student Mental Health Services (€10)
all Research Students will be €70, comprised of the following
- Student Mental Health Services (€10)
- Contribution to the Mardyke Arena (€10)
