About Us
Founded in the 1990s, the UCC Inline Hockey Club offers students a unique sporting experience. Inline hockey is similar to ice hockey but is played on roller skates. We cater to players of all levels—whether you’re a beginner learning to skate, someone looking to advance your skills, or an experienced player seeking a challenge.
During our training sessions, we focus on drills to improve skating, stickhandling, and shooting. We also play matches among ourselves. All necessary gear is provided at training, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
Inline hockey is a versatile sport. Whether you enjoy fast-paced, intense play or a slower, more methodical game, inline hockey has something for everyone. Roller-skating skills are a plus, but don’t worry if you’re new to skating. Our experienced members are more than happy to help you learn the game and how to skate.
Our club is known for its welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. We prioritize having fun during our weekly training sessions and social events. While mostly recreational, we can enter our team, the “UCC Skulls,” into the Irish Senior League if we have enough skilled players and interest. This allows us to compete against teams from all over Ireland.
We also organize an annual event, which could be an in-club tournament or a trip to play a friendly match against another team. In the past, we’ve traveled to Galway, London, and Longford. Additionally, we have annual trips to the ice rink at Christmas and host various other social events.
Currently, we train once a week at Coláiste Chríost Rí on Capwell Road, Turners Cross. For directions and more information, check out our Instagram page @uccinlinehockey. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at inlinehockey@uccclubs.ie or message us on Instagram. We look forward to skating with you soon!
