Our Transition Year programmes are a fun, interactive, and immersive way for secondary school students to experience studying STEM at UCC.

| 16 Feb 2026 | 10am | Physics Transition Year Week | Closing date for applications 14 November: UCC Physics Transition Year week is an interactive, and enjoyable way for potential physics students to experience the School of Physics. | 17 Nov 2025 | 9am | Physiology Transition Year Programme | Runs from 17-20 November. As part of this programme students actively participate in a number of undergraduate Physiology laboratory practical classes. | 3 Feb 2026 | 9am | Tyndall Transition Year Programme | Applications open 13 October 2025 and will close by Friday 17 October 2025. Programme runs from 3-6 February 2026. The programme gives transition year secondary school students a flavour of a week in the life of a researcher in Tyndall's world-class research facility as well as the opportunity to learn about topics like electronics, sensors, materials science, electrochemistry, photonics and physics through talks, demonstrations and lab tours and hands on activities where possible. | Tyndall National Institute | https://www.tyndall.ie/education/tyndall-transition-year-programme/ |
| 13 Apr 2026 | 9am | Food and Nutritional Sciences Transition Year Programme | Runs from 13 to 17 April 2026. | 6 Oct 2025 | 10am | Chemistry Transition Year Week | Registration opens on 20th October and closes on 20th November 2025. Selected applicants will be notified in January 2026. The 2026 TY Programme will take place from Monday, 20th April to Thursday, 23rd April in the Kane Building at UCC.
