K.U. Levuen, Belgium and University College Cork

Between 2009 and 2011 University College Cork and K.U.Leuven University, Belgium (http://www.kuleuven.be/english), were partners in the Erasmus QACEP Project. During the lifetime of the QACEP Project (2009-2011) many exchanges of ideas took place between the representatives from UCC - the Quality Promotion Unit - and those from K.U.Leuven - the Office of Educational Policy.

Frequent contact between K.U.Leuven and the Quality Promotion Unit at QACEP Project Conferences and Meetings prompted a two-day study visit to UCC by the Belgian University in October 2011. The visit was aimed at gaining a better understanding of the Quality Assurance systems in place in UCC.

A reception to welcome the visiting delegation from K.U. Leuven was held in the Staff Common Room on Thursday 20th October. Professor Grace Neville, Vice-President for Teaching and Learning, delivered the welcome address to the Belgian group. The delegation was led by Professor Piet Verhesschan, Head of the Office for Educational Policy, K.U. Leuven and comprised six people whose fields are primarily in Curriculum Development and Quality Assurance in K.U. Leuven. A schedule of presentations was given by UCC staff during the group’s two-day visit. The series of presentations was led by Dr. Norma Ryan, Director, Quality Promotion Unit, UCC.
