Louise joined the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, UCC in September 2015 having just graduated with a BSc. Human Nutrition and Dietetics (1H) from Trinity College Dublin.

Louise gained her undergraduate training in the Nutrition and Dietetic Departments of the Bon Secours Hospital Cork, the Cork University Hospital and Kerry General Hospital.

Louise’s research will focus chiefly on designing, evaluating and implementing a pilot intervention tackling childhood overweight and obesity. She is also involved in the HRB funded Cork and Kerry Diabetes and Heart Disease Study, Mitchelstown Cohort Re-screen 2015.

Louise became interested in a career in research after completing her undergraduate thesis in St Luke’s Oncology Hospital, Dublin, titled “An Exploration of the Adequacy of Hospital Meals in Meeting the Nutritional Requirements of Cancer Patients Undergoing Radiotherapy”.
