Meet Dr Birgit Greiner – Director of the MSc in Occupational Health

Dr Birgit Greiner is the Director of the MSc Occupational Health at the School of Public Health, University College Cork (UCC). Dr Greiner leads on several online and campus-based modules (Principles and Practices of Occupational Health and Safety, Management of Psychosocial Risks: Theory and Practice, Information Retrieval and Interpretation in Occupational Health, Critical Appraisal of Publications). Dr Greiner is a passionate occupational health and safety advocate with local engagement in Psyched and international engagement as a member of IOSH and an Executive Member of the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology. Dr Greiner’s research interest is in occupational stress and the management of psychosocial work risks. She published extensively on the measurement of occupational stress factors, the prevention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders, and the promotion of cardiovascular health, mental health and wellbeing in workplaces. Her international research includes studies in health care, aviation, bus driving, production and office work. Dr Greiner received a PhD and of Master of Public Health (MPH), from the University of California Berkeley, School of Public Health and a Graduate degree in Psychology from the Technical University Berlin, Germany. Through her research, Dr Greiner has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters whilst also regularly presenting at professional and scientific international conferences.
