"My Erasmus traineeship has been a fantastic experience that has taught me a lot about research skills. It has enhanced my cultural awareness and I have learned a lot of life skills such as living in a big city and establishing a new network of friendships far from home. I would encourage any student considering doing their fourth year placement abroad to go for it, as it has been invaluable in my development as a pharmacy student and as a person in general."

"Before I began international placement, the prospect of moving to a new country and adjusting to an unfamiliar culture was daunting. However, when I arrived in Zagreb any apprehensions I had, quickly faded. During my experience, I did not only acquire practical skills, but also developed inestimable intercultural skills. I’ve encountered many friendly, kind and fascinating people in Zagreb and formed friendships for life that I’m very grateful for. For me, moving abroad for placement was an invaluable experience and I truly recommend this type of placement to any student who is given the opportunity. If I could go back, I’d do it again!"

“I had the opportunity to immerse myself into the Scandinavian lifestyle and to work as part of a diverse lab team …enabling me to expand my professional network. Not only did I broaden my pharmacy knowledge and research skills but living and working in Sweden exposed me to a culture renowned for its work-life balance. I would recommend an international placement to any Pharmacy student seeking a diverse and enriching experience.”
Kate Walsh, MPharm Student 2022
"Participating in the Erasmus programme has been without a doubt the highlight of my time in UCC. I was lucky enough to spend four months of my fourth year at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.
Living in a non-English-speaking country for the first time was so exciting and I took every opportunity to spend my off time exploring the city and beyond. I really got immersed in the local culture and found a new home for myself. Moving to a new country even for a short time can be daunting, but the support I received from the International Office both at UCC and at the University of Gothenburg made the transition so much easier.
No doubt this has been a unique experience that I feel will benefit me hugely in my future. It was such an incredible experience that I would recommend to any student presented with the opportunity.
