Perrigo Scholarships 2021 “A Pharmacy Student’s Wellness Toolbox”
UCC School of Pharmacy is proud to announce the four Perrigo Scholarships winners in a video submission contest hosted by Perrigo and the School of Pharmacy.
Open to current undergraduates in the UCC’s School of Pharmacy, students were asked to create a 2–3-minute video on the topic of “A Pharmacy Student’s Wellness Toolbox” and address how they coped with the challenges of an intense college course such as Pharmacy.
One student in each of the current BPharm years will receive the €750 scholarship sponsored by Perrigo.
Mr Jack Murray, Chairperson of the UCC Pharmacy Society, said “Given the extreme success of our previous collaboration the Mental Health Conference last year and the heightened importance of this topic in current times, we decided to combine Perrigo’s 130 years’ experience in self-care and well-being with our keen interest in promoting mental health to create an engaging assignment centred on wellness.”
Congratulations to Siobhan Nestor of BPharm1, Eoghan Lehane of BPharm2, Seona Willins of BPharm3, Grainne Curran/Bridelle Cronin of BPharm4 for their winning entries!
This sponsored scholarship opportunity is in response to the additional financial pressures students felt because of Covid-19. Perrigo, who has generously sponsored previous initiatives, is a leading provider of over-the-counter health and wellness solutions and a long-time supporter of the School of Pharmacy at UCC.
Mr Paul Hatton, National Field Sales Controller of Perrigo said, “Self-care is at the core of Perrigo’s vision which helps guides us in making patient-focused decisions when bringing products to market. The Pharmacy is, and always will be, a key destination in the community that supports and promotes self-care. Perrigo are delighted to support the UCC School of Pharmacy Perrigo Scholarship thereby supporting the future of Irish Pharmacy.”
Prof Brendan Griffin, Head of School of Pharmacy, said, “The Perrigo Scholarship is a wonderful collaboration between our school and industry leader. We are proud of the creative thinking and passion these students have demonstrated in their video entries and hope they create a lasting impact.”
